Why this matters
A remote is basically a key. If one is missing, copied, kept by an old tenant, or issued to a contractor, it may still open the gate or garage until the receiver memory is cleared.

Is clearing remotes better than adding a new remote?
If any remote is missing, yes. Adding one new remote does not stop the missing remote from working. Clearing the receiver and adding back known remotes is safer.
Does adding a new remote remove old remotes?
No. Adding a new remote usually only adds another working remote. It does not remove old remotes from the receiver memory.
When should a keypad code be changed?
